Historic mountain huts

The 5 Torri tell the story of mountaineering from its dawn

Books and local testimonies tell of the daring of the first climbers, their ambition and their bond with the local people.

Their history was handed down to us not only by the numerous via ferratas and climbing routes put up by these pioneers but also by the first refuges built in the Dolomites. Since the end of the 19th century, these buildings have been the starting points for all the routes that today allow us to safely climb the mountains.

The oldest mountain hut is the Nuvolau Refuge, inaugurated in 1883, followed by the first Averau Refuge at the end of the 19th century and, in 1902, by the Cinque Torri Refuge.
