The magic of the 5 Torri

The 5 Torri (Five Towers) are undoubtedly one of the symbols of Cortina d'Ampezzo. Thanks to their particular rock formation, they are immediately recognizable from all other peaks or valleys in the surrounding area and are thus a tourist magnet.

A fairytale landscape...

The area lies in the Ampezzo Dolomites Nature Park, which preserves unspoiled nature and safeguards incredible biodiversity.

A detour to the enchanting Limides and Bai de Dones lakes should not be missed.

Stop in mountain refuges which are very special due to their location, atmosphere and history

Here they are:

Geology, history and cinema

Geology enthusiasts can study the particular shape of the 5 Torri and try to understand their formation process.

Those interested in history can visit the World War I open-air museum, the largest in the Dolomites, which demonstrates the soldiers' life during the cruel years of the First World War when Austrian and Italian troops battled each other relentlessly in this valley and on the surrounding mountains. Nothing illustrates the terms "trench warfare", "the misery of the soldiers" or "heavy artillery" better than a walk through the restored trenches between the 5 Torri, the Lagazuoi and the Sasso di Stria.

Furthermore, film fans can recognize the mountain scenes from their favourite films in this landscape.

Outdoor activities for all tastes!

Those who want to stay fit are spoiled for choice. Every season offers a wide range of sporting activities, and for each, the 5 Torri area offers the best conditions: you can ski, hike with snowshoes, climb, do via ferratas and much more.

In winter, you can discover the entire surrounding area with stunning ski tours such as the Super8, the Great War Ski Tour and the Averau Troi Ski Track.

In summer, the area offers many hiking tours to places of historical and natural interest choose from as well as excursions for families with children.
