Scoiattoli Refuge

With its spectacular terrace view of the Dolomites, the Scoiattoli refuge was built by the mountain guide Lorenzo Lorenzi in 1969 and is still run by the same family.

The Scoiattoli Refuge is located right next to the ski slopes and on the routes of the ski tours Super8 and The Great War. It is an excellent starting point for hiking tours and the Ferratas in the surroundings, as well as for a visit to the World War 1 open-air museum.

Easily accessible with the 5 Torri chairlift, this refuge is the best starting point for those who want to climb on the famous walls of the 5 Torri and in the nearby crags. It is a popular stop for skiers, mountain bikers, ski mountaineers and snowshoe hikers.

For guests who want to spend an amazing evening, the Lorenzi family organizes - only by reservation – a dinner with a chairlift ride by night and an outdoor bath in a fir wood hot tub.

The kitchen of this refuge offers traditional dishes of the Ampezzo region but also creative specialities such as the "Violette ai sapori del bosco" - "Violets with forest aroma": a homemade pasta dish flavoured with blueberries.

Events throughout the year

The Scoiattoli Refuge is a member of the Cortina Delicious Team, a consortium that organizes all kinds of events throughout the year: high altitude concerts, parties on the panoramic terraces, exhibitions and meetings in the cultural centres of the area, historical re-enactments in the museums of WWI, sports competitions, themed dinners and photo competitions and solidarity events.

The events of the 5 Torri – Giau area are published here.
See the list of all events in the surrounding area in the Events Calendar.
