Panoramic tour around Mt. Averau in front of the Tofane and Sasso di Stria mountains

Why should you drive when you can go anywhere on skis? This is the basic idea for the implementation of this connection project.

The Croda Negra chairlift connects the 5 Torri and the Falzarego, then skiers coming from Cortina, from Civetta and the Badia Valley can return to the 5 Torri on a slope of Col Gallina.

 The Averau Troi circuit starts and ends at Bai de Dones or at the Falzarego Pass and offers stunning views around the Averau, a mountain surrounded by incredibly beautiful nature.

Itinerary proposal: between landscapes and gastronomy

You can get to the valley station of the 4-seater chairlift 5 Torri at Bai de Dones (1,889 m.) either by car or, better, with the gondola lift Cortina Skyline. A stop at the Baita Bai de Dones hut is a must: here you will appreciate the hut keepers’ delicious cakes and the Bombardino. With the chairlift, you reach the Scoiattoli Refuge in only 4 minutes. Here, at an altitude of 2255 meters, you can enjoy an incomparable panoramic view of the 5 Torri and the Tofana. At this refuge you shouldn't miss out on tasty dishes such as the egg starter "Ovetto in Quota" and the venison fillet. From there, a short slope leads downhill to the 2-seater chairlift Potor, which takes you up to the Averau Refuge at 2,413 m of altitude. This refuge received numerous international awards for its excellent cuisine and the fantastic view of the Civetta and Marmolada mountains. Then you ski down southwards on the sunny Fedare slope with a stunning view of the Giau pass. Halfway, there is a junction to the right: this slope leads to the 3-seater chairlift Croda Negra, which takes skiers up to the saddle in a few minutes. Here the panorama changes, offering to the northwest a great view of the Lagazuoi and Sasso di Stria mountains. From the Croda Negra saddle, you can wedel the Col Gallina ski area and then ski back to Bai de Dones or take the 3-seater chairlift to the Falzarego Pass and the Lagazuoi ski area.

  • Free parking areas and access points: if you want to ski the circuit according to this description, you can park your car at the valley station of the 5 Torri chairlift in the Bai de Dones district. There are also other access points with the following parking areas:
    - at the valley station of the Lagazuoi cable car - Falzarego pass
    - at the valley station of the Col Gallina chairlift - Falzarego pass
    - at the valley station of the Fedare chairlift – Giau Pass
  • The mountain refuges of the ski area 5 Torri Giau along the route are: Baita Bai de Dones, Scoiattoli Refuge and Averau Refuge.
